2012 Specialized Bikes Preview

Specialized have been previewing their 2012 model year bikes to North American retailers and it looks like there will be some more new models and names for 2012 along with some less than subtle colour ways.

The updated Demo DH monster will be available in red/black/white, lime/black/ white and Troy Lee Designs red/yellow/black.

A new model will be the 200mm travel Status, which may mean the BigHit will become something of a memory. However this would be the bike I'm most interested in seeing it's capabilities of of the box. Looks like it's going to ship with single and triple fork options... can you say Urban Down Hill!

The Camber will be available in carbon for the 29er fans, though pricing may exclude in from the New Zealand range as the potential sales could be counted on one hand.

For those in a hurry the Epic 29er range has kept with four models straddling the name. I expect to see many more of these on the trails before next summer ends, generally passing me at great speed.

Finally the Enduro Evo seems to have also caught the 2012 trend for bright paintwork despite the fact that most all mountain riders tend to pick bikes that tend to look like something crafted directly from a block of alloy so that it'll survive the coming zombie apocalypse… because that's cool. The Evo models have yet to make it to New Zealand, so maybe we'll see them in 2012, but like the Carbon Epic 29er, pricing could be a factor. Though I did see a feature in the NZ Herald that our local dollar could reach parity with the US dollar... cheaper bikes and stuff, gotta be a bonus.
