SRAM Launch Type 2 Rear Derailleur

SRAM have been tweaking their rear dérailleur technology over the last couple of years and now they have released the results, the Type 2.

The big news is inclusion of a clutch mechanism, which acts as a high speed damper for the rear dérailleur. It utilises SRAM’s new roller bearing clutch technology to keep the dérailleur and chain taut eliminating chain slap, chain suck and dérailleur bounce. There’s no switch to engage the clutch, it’s on all the time. A one-way roller clutch controls the chain tension for consistent shifting. Note that it's set at the factory and SRAM have indicated it's good for the life of the component.

Another feature is based around the little padlock logo at the top of the cage, well that is the Cage Lock. Which allows you to remove the rear wheel and then lock the dérailleur in place and makes life a lot easier for transporting and storing your bike.

The new Type 2 rear dérailleur will come in three cage lengths and in XO and X9 configurations.
