A Death At The Cape Epic

I have just read the sad news that Australian mountain bike rider and journalist James Williamson passed away during the Absa Cape Epic currently being run in South Africa. The report is that that James failed to be woken after sleeping during the night.

Personally I was not fully aware of the success James has had as a rider, he won the 2008 24hr Championship at Canmore Canada, but I was an avid reader of Enduro, the publication he edited from Victoria. He was a passionate writer, which makes Enduro such a great read. His guidance made it a world class publication on endurance type mountain biking. There was no doubting his love of the sport and respect for everyone who took part, riders, organisers, sponsors and volunteers.

I just checked my emails and found a long conversation I was having with James regarding updating my subscription since my move from Sydney back to Auckland and it makes me very sad to know he has passed on.

My condolences go out to his family and his co-workers at Enduro Magazine.
